Within FRED, some worlds look at the city, society, desire, solitude or other cultures. And then there is FRED, the man.
That one looks closer.
On October 2, 2026, a first EP carrying that name and nothing more will bring together four songs: Chienne de vie, Ton fils, Pour un temps and Faisons la paix.
Four musically very different tracks, yet they belong to the same place. A place where the aim is no longer so much to tell the world as to understand what the years, bonds, losses, choices and contradictions have left inside us.
The FRED world is probably the most directly autobiographical part of the project. Not because every song literally recounts an episode of a life, or because there is a hidden chronology to decode. But because its raw material is more personal: filiation, finitude, fractures, words carried for a long time, what is lost, what is accepted, and that strange way we sometimes keep moving forward without ever being entirely repaired.
Chienne de vie opens that door more head-on. It is a way of looking at existence without asking it to be fair, neat or well ordered.
With Ton fils, the movement becomes far more intimate. The song enters the relationship between a father and a son, into what was said, what was not, and into a voice that keeps speaking even when the person it addresses is no longer there.
Pour un temps stands somewhere else again. In what time does to people, to their certainties, and to that strange illusion that things might remain as they are.
And then comes Faisons la paix.
Not a triumphant peace. Not a perfect healing. Still less the idea that wounds should be erased so that everything can begin again as new.
Quite the opposite.
Learning to stop living against our own fractures.
This song is also where the visual identity of the FRED world was born. A face built like a puzzle, whose pieces will gradually return from song to song. The joins will remain visible. Because the point is not to show a man made new, but a man gathering together what has made him.
The final piece belongs to Faisons la paix.
It erases nothing.
It simply completes the face.
And that is probably the thread linking these first four tracks: rebuilding yourself does not mean becoming someone else.
The October 2 EP is therefore not the end point of the FRED world. It is its first truly open door. Other songs already exist beyond it, other fragments are waiting for their place, and the puzzle will keep taking shape.
But four songs are enough to enter.
Chienne de vie. Ton fils. Pour un temps. Faisons la paix.
Four different ways of looking at the same man.
And perhaps, sometimes, of recognising a piece of ourselves there.
